The name Avalon was chosen when, in the 1920's, Avalon was subdivided into smaller lots by Mr. Arthur Small. It should be noted that King Arthur was taken to a place called Avalon, when he was mortally wounded and is a term which means 'Land of the Dead' according to Celtic Legend.
