History
Morpeth is an Historic River Port, settled in 1821. Between 1832 and 1890, Morpeth was the major port for the Hunter Valley and surrounding districts. Morpeth was a private town built on land granted to Lieutenant Close and was an important Trade, Cultural and Religious centre.
